The Altimax G3 2016 has a completely new hardware, with a modern 32 MHz controller and 8 MByte flash now more computing power is available. experience in the use of the Altimeter flowed into the new development, so the servo connections were planned to lie behind, the voltage regulators are now short-circuit reverse polarity and overload protected.
- Very robust power supply, reverse polarity protected and short-circuit proof
- Large ignition capacitor for high impulse ignition currents
- 2 Variants: Plug or screw terminal
- Stores now also interrupted flights!
- ATXMEGA 128A4U Controller with 32 MHz
- 4MB Flash for flight data
- New acceleration sensor with +-120G
- Horizontal servo contacts
- 3.2mm holes for M3 screws
- Expansion port with bus signals and 3 IOs that can be used as desired, both from output (3.3V switching) and as input. Inputs can activate any output, as output they can be controlled by events.
- Extended event system, each event can activate any output timer.
- 1:1 interchangeable with an Altimax G2 and G3, the same connector is used.
- Thanks to highly integrated components, the number of required parts could be reduced by almost half!
The G3 2016 is the fourth generation of the very successful altimeter, many months of optimization have gone into this new development, with safety always at the top of the list. The reliability of the Altimax is now known worldwide. Development and production take place entirely in the new development laboratory, so the entire process can be closely monitored. A state-of-the-art vapor phase soldering process ensures perfect soldering results.
The Altimax G3 2016 is suitable for both small and high-power projects. 3 pyro outputs and 2 servo ports can be assigned to any flight event. Two-stage recovery is possible, but also much more complicated recovery methods and two-stage flights can be realized without any problems. In addition, 3 internal timers are available for timing tasks, which can be set and connected at will.
New are 3 additional inputs. The 3 pins can be used as input or output. As input they react to a level change and trigger an event. This event can then activate any output of the Altimex. Other things can be switched as an output. Among other things, the beep signal and the LED can be led to the outside, but any consumer can be switched with additional electronics. Additional circuit boards are under development.
With now 4 MByte internal flash memory the altimeter stores 6 flights of approx. 10 minutes length. The free PC software for the Altimax reads the data directly and displays the flight with all data graphically. On request, the flight data can also be read out via the serial interface, and there is also an optional USB connector for connection to the USB port.
Settings can be made via the software or via the optional Altimax LCD terminal, a very practical assistant.
The Altimax G3 2016 has a very accurate pressure sensor on board and measures the height with a resolution of about 15 cm! An acceleration sensor with a resolution of 0.05G and a maximum measuring range of +-120G ensures even more safety during fast flights and better recording of flight dynamics.
A possible firmware update can be easily carried out by the user with the PC software, updates are automatically retrieved from the Internet. So the altimeter always stays up-to-date.
The Altimax G3 2016 is supplied with the setting for two-stage recovery and can be used immediately.
The Altimax has a stable 10-pole plug for connection to the rocket. Included is a socket with approx. 25 cm long cables to which switches and ignition terminals can be directly connected. Due to the plug principle an easy exchange between rockets is easily possible, the plugs provide a very safe contact, much safer than screw terminals. Additional cables are available at low cost.
Alternatively, a version with screw terminals is also available.
